Louis Pain
Basically, Louis accompanies other artists. He has always enjoyed and had a knack for making
other people's music - regardless of style - sound the best it can. This ability has kept
Louis in demand with a wide variety of top musicians, first in his native San Francisco and,
since 1986, in Portland.
In the Bay Area, Louis worked regularly with Bruce Conte (of the Tower of Power), Jules Broussard (Ray Charles, Santana), Bobby Forte (B.B. King), and Cornelius Bumpus (Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan). Louis also occasionally accompanied choirs and gospel-oriented singers, including Dorothy Morrison (of "Oh Happy Day" fame). Since relocating to Portland, Louis has worked with internationally known blues & soul artists Solomon Burke, Howard Tate, Robben Ford, and Bo Diddley, and with local favorites Curtis Salgado, Linda Hornbuckle, and Paul deLay. He has also gigged and recorded with top jazz musicians including Bernard Purdie and Phil Upchurch, Mel Brown, Thara Memory, Dan Faehnle, Tom Grant, and Dan Balmer. |
