Darren Heinrich
Darren holds a 1st class Honours degree from Sydney Conservatorium in Jazz Piano/Organ, where he
studied with Judy Bailey, Kevin Hunt and Mike Nock. Durning January 2006 Darren spent the month
studying with organist Tony Monaco in Columbus/OH. His Honours Thesis is entitled: Jimmy Smith
and Larry Young - Blue Note Records jazz organ masters - a comparison of style. Also while studying
Darren received the Jacek Chrostowski Encouragement Award for Jazz Piano. He performs as a freelance
musician on organ and piano in his hometown of Sydney.
Darren's recent performing credits include the Organ Summit at The Basement, Art On The Rocks Festival and the prestigious Manly Jazz Festival where he played with Trumpeter Bobby Shew. His style emanates from the songbooks of master organists Jimmy Smith, Larry Young and John Patton. |
