Clément Simon
Clément (* in Bordeaux) studied music theory and violin from the age of seven, then piano at the Centre de Musique Aquitain with Joseph Ganter. After gaining a DEM in jazz in Agen, he completed a two-year course at the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood in Melun, graduating with first-class honors. He rounded off his musical studies with writing and orchestration classes at the Conservatoire du 11ème arrondissement de Paris.

A recognized pianist on the Paris jazz scene, Clément has performed with Saul Rubin, Didier Lockwood, Cyrille Aimée and American vocalists Brenna Whitaker and Thornetta Davis. He can currently be heard in the bands of Jeanne Michard (winner of the Victoires du Jazz 2023, "Revelation" category), Charlotte Planchou ("Musicienne à suivre", Best-of 2022 Jazzmag/Jazznews) or Caloé (winner of the Polonica Rock & Song competition), on Hammond organ with the Links Trio and Alex Freiman's Hot Sauce, alongside Ellinoa in the Björk Acoustik project and in the Orchid Big Band he co-founded.

At the piano or keyboards, shaped by European art music as much as by African and Caribbean music, his own style is the result of a wide range of influences, from Ahmad Jamal to Keith Jarrett, via Michel Camilo, Herbie Hancock and Brad Mehldau.
