Vincenzo Abbracciante
Vincente (*1983 in Ostuni) began studying music at the age of eight with his father, Franco. He attended masterclasses with masters such as Franco D'Andrea, Bruno Tommaso, Richard Galliano, Joelle Leandre, Steve Potts, Roberto Gatto, Dado Moroni and Jacques Mornet.
He holds degrees with honors in Jazz Music from the Conservatorio "Nino Rota" di Monopoli and in Classical Accordion from the Conservatorio "E.R. Duni" di Matera. Winner of the 25th International "Città di Castelfidardo" Competition (2000) and the 53rd Accordion World Trophy (2003), since 2000 he has been a Borsini accordion ambassador. His international career has taken him across five continents - from Europe to America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, performing in the world's most prestigious festivals and venues, alongside artists such as Javier Girotto, Gabriele Mirabassi, Fabrizio Bosso, John Medeski, Richard Galliano, Marc Ribot, Rita Marcotulli, Bruno Tommaso, Peppe Servillo, Lucio Dalla, Ornella Vanoni and many more. In 2006 he began exploring vintage keyboards (Hammond organ, Farfisa organ, Elka organs, Fender Rhodes, and Wurlitzer pianos), expanding into new sonic textures and a more psychedelic creative dimension. In 2009, together with Carlo Borsini, he developed an innovative accordion register system, officially presented at the Frankfurt Fair (2011). That same year, he received the prestigious "Voce d'Oro" award from the Castelfidardo International Festival. Named "Best Instrumentalist" by the ArgoJazz Festival (2013), his handprint is preserved in the International Accordionists' Footprint Museum of Recoaro Terme. In 2018, he won the Bucharest International Jazz Competition with his trio. His albums Terranima (2021), Santuario (2022, with Javier Girotto) and Melodico (2024, with Andrea Sabatino) all received the Orpheus Award, given by critics to the best jazz accordion productions of the year. He has also composed soundtracks for films directed by Gianni Torres, including Le mamme di San Vito (2010, Globo Tricolore 2011 – Brazil/Cinema), Unique (2014), Angels in Bangkok (2016) and Taibale (2025). |
