Abel Boquera
Abel (*1974) is a highly regarded organist and pianist based in Barcelona, renowned for his expertise on the Hammond organ. For over 15 years, he has led his long-standing trio, The Shu Shu's, alongside guitarist Dave Wilkinson and drummer Caspar St. Charles. Together, they have toured extensively and recorded two albums with acclaimed soul singer Gisele Jackson.
Internationally, Abel has developed a close collaboration with saxophonist Muriel Grossmann, with whom he has recorded two albums. Their performances have taken them across Europe, with a highlight performance at the Philharmonie de Paris during the Jazz à la Villette festival. The group is also scheduled to perform in the United States. Throughout his career, Abel has had the privilege of working with prominent artists such as Ray Gelato, Benjamin Herman, Seamus Blake, Gustav Lundgren, and Dave Mitchell, enriching his musical journey and helping shape his distinctive sound. Currently, Abel is part of a quartet with Gorka Benítez, David Xirgu, and Dani Pérez, and they are preparing to record an album. He also performs in Víctor de Diego's quartet, alongside Jaume Llombart and Christian Smith, and is involved in ongoing collaborations with Ramón Cardo and Adrian Cunningham. |
