Charles Covington
Charles was born in 1941. At a relatively late age, being a senior at
Douglass High School, he discovered his love for music and studies to play the
piano. Musical influences came from Earl Garner and Ahmad Jamal. Charles
developped a wider reputation and appeared with artists such as George Benson,
Sonny Stitt, Gene Ammons, Kenny Burrell, Milt Jackson, Gary Thomas and many more.
He toured the USA, Europe and China.
Charles has been honored many times by various institutions such as the City Council of Baltimore and the University of Maryland. Since 1994, he is also a lecturer for piano at the Howard University. Rarely known, Charles Covington is a multi talent: He also counts to the top chess players in the USA and is a professional magician. |
