Rachel Eckroth
Rachel (*1976 in Mandan, ND) is a singer-songwriter and keyboardist.She grew up in Phoenix in a musical family; she began piano lessons at the age of six. At the age of 15, she became deeply involved with jazz, playing in the Thunderbird High School jazz band. She also began gaining a foothold in the Phoenix jazz scene, playing in Dennis Rowland's band. She then studied jazz piano at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, graduating with a bachelor's degree. In 2001, Rachel moved to New York City and completed her master's degree at Rutgers University under Stanley Cowell.
 
In 2005, Rachel released her debut album, Mind, with bassist Kevin Thomas and drummer Chris Benham. In 2009, she released the album Louder Than Words with saxophonist Arun Luthra. Her album Let Go followed in 2014, marking her move into singer-songwriter music.
 
Between 2014 and 2016, Rachel was the keyboardist for the house band on Meredith Vieira's television show, before joining singer-songwriter KT Tunstall's backing band in 2016. In 2017, she backed Chris Botti. That same year, Rachel formed a fusion jazz group called Antelog.
 
In 2018, Rachel released her new album, When It Falls. In 2021, she released a duo album, The Blackbird Sessions Vol. 1, with her husband, bassist Tim Lefebvre. Also in 2021, her album The Garden was released on Rainy Days Records, which contains mainly original compositions and was nominated for a Grammy in the 2022 category for "Best Contemporary Instrumental Album". In addition to Lefebvre and drummer Christian Euman, the band included saxophonists Donny McCaslin and Andrew Krasilnikov, synthesizer player Austin White and guitarist Nir Felder. She is currently the keyboardist for singer St. Vincent and Rufus Wainwright.
