Scott Kinsey
Scott, a protégé of Joe Zawinul, is a keyboardist and member of the band Tribal Tech. He is a 1991 graduate of the Berklee College of Music in Boston. Across the past decade, Scott has been involved with, or at the helm of, a variety of impressive projects. On We Speak Luniwaz, his 2019 Whirlwind Recordings debut, Kinsey reimagines seven scintillating Joe Zawinul compositions, plus one by Wayne Shorter and two originals of a similar vibe. With the core group of Katisse Buckingham (saxophones, flute & rhymes), electric bass phenom Hadrien Feraud and explosive drummer Gergö Borlai, Scott speaks Luniwaz in his own bold dialect.
Scott has performed worldwide with Tribal Tech, Human Element, the Zawinul Legacy Band and his own groups. He's played legendary U.S. venues including Carnegie Hall, Catalina Jazz Club, the Bottom Line, Blues Alley, the Great American Music Hall, the Troubador, Antone's, the Roxy, Dakota Jazz Club, the Musicians Institute, the Baked Potato and many others. Scott is well known internationally, where he has performed in Europe, Asia, Africa, Mexico and South America, at venues such as Ronnie Scott's, Blue Note Tokyo, Jazzhouse, the Blue Frog and many more. |
