Andre Lewis
Andre, aka Mandré, (* 1948 in Omaha, NE) was an American musician known for his synthesizer recordings at Motown. As Andre Lewis he also contributed to Labelle's Moon Shadow and Whitney Houston's Just Whitney. He toured or recorded with Grant Green, The Who, Labelle, Buddy Miles Band, Maxayn, Rufus, White Chocolate, Earth Wind and Fire and Frank Zappa. He was also band leader for Johnny Guitar Watson.

His debut single as Mandré "Solar Flight (Opus I)", was a hit from a self-titled debut album. He formerly played with his band Maxayn, named after the singer, and later his wife Maxayn Lewis.

As a tester of Roland products, he was one of the first musicians to record with the infamous Roland TR-808. He was a pioneer in the use of synthesizers on records and worked with the now famous Roger Linn on developing the first digital drum machines.

In 1988, Lewis decided to base himself in Germany with wife Maxayn. He began to be involved in the European musical scene. After a divorce, he returned to the USA and devoted himself to gospel music, which he plays every sunday at the local church.
