Michel Rubini
Michel (* 1942 in Los Angeles, CA) is a pianist and composer, best known for his work composing motion picture soundtracks. A child prodigy, born into a famous yet dysfunctional family, Michel Rubini started playing piano at four years of age; became a juvenile delinquent at fourteen; and then achieved major success as a touring concert pianist by sixteen. Following high school, Rubini left classical music behind for good, however, to swiftly become one of the most sought-after studio musicians among the famous Wrecking Crew of the ‘60s and ‘70s, performing on smash hits for some of the most prominent artists of all time.
During the 1960s and 1970s, Michel worked on tours, with such stars as Ray Charles, Frank Zappa, Sonny and Cher and Barbra Streisand. Michel was producer, conductor and arranger for Motown Records. He was one of the most sought-after Los Angeles session players during the 1960s and 1970s. Michel also made numerous TV appearances in the house band of the 1980s game shows Face the Music and Name That Tune. He played the organ on "That's Life" and the grand piano on "Strangers in the Night" by Frank Sinatra. Michel co-wrote three songs for Thelma Houston. He composed two songs for The New Kids film. Michel, together with Don Dunn, wrote and recorded an album Diggin' It in 1976. During recording session, he played piano, organ, clavinet, harpsichord, and synthesizer. He started playing gospel and blues about age 13, but he wrote, recorded and released his first and, so far, only blues album Band is Tight Tonite in early 1990s. from Wikipedia |
