Julian Lee
Julian (* 1923 in Dunedin, New Zealand) was a pianist, arranger and conductor. He was blind at birth and was involved in music since the age of six.
 
He came to Sydney in October 1956 where he worked at the A.B.C. and Channel Seven as an arranger. On the advice of Frank Sinatra, he left Sydney for Los Angeles in 1963. While in the USA, he wrote arrangements for top artists such as George Shearing, Peggy Lee, Gerry Mulligan, Chet Baker, Harry Edison and many others. He returned to Sydney, first in 1968-69, and again in 1970-71 before taking up a position as a producer and A&R manager at Capitol Records in 1971. He returned to New Zealand in 1974 to work for Radio New Zealand. Back to Sydney in 1978 where he staged concerts at the Opera House, was a music co-ordinator at Channel Ten, arranged music for various projects on the A.B.C. and also played in many Sydney jazz venues.
 
Julian died in 2020.
