Joel Locher
Joel (* 1982 in Stuttgart) received piano and cello lessons at the age of five. In 1994 he received his first double bass lessons from his father. Already at the age of ten he became interested in jazz. Various prizes at Jugend Musiziert followed. As a young student, he began studying the double bass with Ulrich Lau at the Hochschule für Musik in Stuttgart. From 1998 to 2001 Joel was solo double bass player in the Jugendkammerorchester Stuttgart and in 2001 and 2002 he was a member of the festival orchestra of the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart.
 
He toured with Wawau Adler Group, Bireli Lagrene, Phillipp Catherine, Jim Rotondi, Scott Hamilton, Charly Antolini, Jermaine Landsberger Trio, André Weiß Trio, Ludovig Beier, Stochelo Rosenberg Trio, Tony Lakatos, Max Greger jr., Dusko Gojkovich,   Andre Ceccarelli, Pee Wee Ellis, Lorenzo Petrocca, Wolfgang Lackerschmid, Emil Mangelsdorf, Titi Winterstein, and many more. Also, he toured Japan, New Zealand, Canada, Norway, Sweden, South Korea, Australia, Italy, Denmark, Czechy, Spain, Hungary, Mosambique, France, Great Britain, Poland, Finnland, Greece, Belgium, and Switzerland.
