Johannes Matthias Michel
Johannes (* 1962), after finishing the grammar school, studied the piano in Basel/Switzerland, afterwards Church Music in Heidelberg and Frankfurt/M and achieved the A-level in 1988. At the conservatory in Stuttgart, Johannes continued his studies with Prof. Dr. Ludger Lohmann. In 1992 he took an examination as solo organist.
 
1988 through 1998, Johannes worked as Kantor in Eberbach/Germany. In 1999, he was appointed to the Kirchenmusikdirektor (KMD) at the Christuskirche in Mannheim, also to the Bezirkskantor for Mannheim and to the Landeskantor for the region Nordbaden. He conducts the Bach Choir Mannheim and the Chamber Choir Mannheim.
 
Johannes is the president of the Karg-Elert Society and the editor of its publications. He also works as a composer of church related musical works (("Kreuzigung", "Nach uns die Sintflut", "Swing- und Jazz-Orgelbüchlein", "Swing- und Jazz-Chorbuch", "Das Gespenst von Canterville", "Musical-Messe"). In 2001, Johannes started as a lecturer for artistic organ playing at the conservatory in Mannheim.
 
Beside numerous recordings for broadcasting stations and TV as well as CD recordings, Johannes toured Europe and the USA.
