Piotr Wyleżoł
Piotr (* 1976), as a child, won prizes at national piano competitions and gave concerts with classical repertoire. Hailed as a "child prodigy" when, at the age of 10 and 11, he played piano concertos by Mozart and Beethoven with the Philharmonic Orchestra in Rybnik. In 1989, he graduated from the 1st degree State Music School of Karol and Antoni Szafranek in Rybnik in the piano class of Romana Fritzowa. In 1995 he graduated from the Karol Szymanowski in Katowice in the piano class of Irena Kryszczukajtis. In 2000 he graduated from the Academy of Music in Katowice at the Jazz and Popular Music Department in the piano class of Wojciech Niedziela.
 
He began his career on the jazz scene during his studies, in groups including Janusz Muniak, Jarek Śmietana and Marek Bałata. As a student, he was a laureate of numerous jazz competitions and festivals: Jazz Juniors in Kraków (1st prize), Festival of Jazz Standards in Siedlce (1st prize), "Klucz do Kariery" - Pomeranian Jazz Autumn, Jazz on the Odra in Wrocław (individual award for the best instrumentalist), The International Jazz Improvisation Competition (Katowice).
 
During his presence on the professional jazz scene, he has had the opportunity to work with many of its personalities, such as: Billy Hart, Edd Schuller, Janusz Muniak, Tomasz Szukalski, Jarosław Śmietana, Tomasz Stańko, Jan Ptaszyn Wróblewski, Grzegorz Nagórski, Kazimierz Jonkisz, Andrzej Cudzich, Adam Pierończyk, Gary Bartz, John Purcell, Urszula Dudziak, Mika Urbaniak, Marek Bańata, Ewa Bem, Piotr Baron, Antymos Apostolis, Nigel Kennedy, Steve Logan, Monty Watters, Bennie Maupin, Janis Siegel and others. In the years 2005 through 2012 he regularly collaborated with Nigel Kennedy, taking part in his original projects, as well as classical music concerts, incl. as harpsichordist in the repertoire of Johann Sebastian Bach or Antonio Vivaldi.
 
Piotr has performed at many concerts and festivals in Poland and dozens of countries around the world. Since 2007, he has been teaching piano at the Department of Jazz and Contemporary Music at the Akademia Muzyczna in Kraków.
