Victor Gould
Victor (* 1980 in Los Angeles, CA) is a pianist and composer. He began playing the piano at the age of four. He attended The Colburn School in downtown Los Angeles and took private lessons with Tamir Hendelman from the age of twelve. After high school he attended the High School for the Arts and later studied with a scholarship (Herbie Hancock Presidential Scholarship) at Berklee College of Music. After graduating, he continued his studies at Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, where he earned his master's degree.

Since then, Gould has worked in the New York jazz scene with Donald Harrison's quartet, with whom he toured the USA and Europe and recorded several albums. He was also part of Wallace Roney's band, with whom two albums were created. He has also performed with musicians such as Esperanza Spalding, Terence Blanchard, Branford Marsalis, Nicholas Payton and Ralph Peterson. Under his own name he presented the albums Clockwork (2016) and Earthlings, the latter with Dezron Douglas, Eric McPherson and Tim Warfield. In the field of jazz he was involved in 17 recording sessions between 2008 and 2020, e.g. also with Holger Scheidt, John Petrucelli, Jazzmeia Horn, Nick Finzer, Bobby Watson and Jeremy Pelt (Griot: This Is Important!). Around 2020 he belonged to the Black Art Jazz Collective (Ascension, 2020), the Rodney Green Quartet and works with his own quartet.

In 2006 Victor was a semi-finalist at the Thelonious Monk International Piano Competition. In 2009 he received the ASCAP Foundation's Young Jazz Composer Award. In 2016, his album Clockwork (along with Ron Stabinsky's Free for One and Earprint) was voted Best Debut Album in the NPR Jazz Critics Poll.
