Jimmy Scott
Chicago didn't loose a pianist, Los Angeles gained an organist. After graduating from the conservatory of music, and playing casual engagements locally in Chicago, Jimmy Scott played with the "giants", as Gene Ammons Claud McLynn, Sonny Stitt, Benny Green, Johnny Griffin, Jimmy Witherspoon, Chuck Higgins, Big Joe Houston The Crows, and many more. But big bands cause a loss of identity, thus, harmonic chord patterns of beauty arranged by a pianist are lost in the brass drive of the big band, Jimmy thought, what could be more beautiful than reproducing these harmonic contingents on a more versatile instrument, and so the Hammond organ provided Jimmy with just the coupling pattern by which he could express his true individuality. After completing his stay in Las Vegas at Reubins Super Club and the Hotel Riviera on the show with Frankie Lane, Jimmy returned to Los Angeles.
