Benoît Sourisse
Benoît (* 1964) got his first education as a classical pianist at the conservatory in Grenoble. Very soon, he was attracted by jazz music, so he went to Paris where he joint the local jazz scene with its well-known artists. After touring the USA, Benoît worked together with violinist Didier Lockwood in the 1990's.

It is in this period, that Benoît got a Hammond B-3 organ, and played now often as organist. His favourite drummer at that time was André Charlier, a high class musician, with whom he founded the duo Charlier-Sourisse.

In the following time, Benoît cooperates with artists such as Kenny Garrett, Jerry Bergonzi, Philip Catherine, Toots Thielemans, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Alex Sipiagin. Benoît also was a founding member of the group Captain Mercier, with Jacques Mercier and various others. This group performed more than 1,000 on stages, and received, in 2003, the "Prix du public aux Victoires du jazz".

Since longtime, Benoît is lecturer for improvisation at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon and has held masterclasses in France.
