Raphael Wressnig

Raphael (*1979) is, what concerns the piano and the organ, a self-educated musician. At the age of 15, he started with his studies of blues and jazz on the piano, later also on the B3. Jimmy Smith and Jack McDuff gave the stamps on his style, but he has been influenced also by players like John Medeski and Larry Goldings.

He toured Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Slovenia, France, and Denmark. Numerous well known artists, with whom he played together mark his way, such as John Mooney, Louisiana Red or Alex Schultz, to name only a few. Also, Raphael took part in various Eurpean blues and jazz festivals. He began a cooperation with Larry Garner's band for Europe. Some years ago, Raphael joined "Sir Oliver Mally's Blues Distillery"; their release of the CD "Bulletproof" was chosen the best blues album of 2001. Wressnig's Organic trio, a project of his own, could achieve the second place in the category "best national jazz artist" (Austria) of the Concerto Poll 2003.
